PREPARING TO THE GAME
To play BEER PONG you will need:
- 22 party cups
- table tennis balls
- long table (optimum table length 7.5ft)
- BEER
At opposite ends of the table, 10 cups filled with beer are placed in the form of a pyramid. Another cup of water is placed next to it – to rinse the ball if it fell to the floor.
1 . Beginning of the game
Team members (one on each side) look into each other’s eyes and throw. The game begins with the team that first threw the ball into the opponent’s cup. If both fail / hit, the team members change and continue throwing. The elbow of the player throwing the ball must not cross the line of the table.
2. THROWS
2.1 – Simple throw – a throw from above, the ball immediately hits one of the cups, or rebounds from another cup. When a ball hits a cup with a simple throw, one cup is removed from the table – the one into which the ball hit.
2.2 – Bounce shot – the ball hits the cup after bouncing/bouncing off the table, wall, ceiling, opponent. After the bounce, the ball can be beaten off by hand. A successful rebound throw counts as two successful throws. The thrower determines which other cup he/she wants to remove from the table.
2.3 – Knocked out cups are removed from the table only after all members of the opposing team have made their throw.
3. COMBINATIONS OF THROWS
3.1 – Miss / miss – move transition.
3.2 – Downtime / miss – the knocked-out cup is removed, the transition of the move.
3.3 – Downtime / downtime in different cups – knocked out cups are removed, the balls are returned for a re-throw.
3.4 – Simple / simple in one cup – the knocked-out cup is removed + 2, the balls are returned for a re-throw.
3.5 – With a rebound / miss – a broken cup is removed + 1, the transition of the move.
3.6 – Bounce/Idle into different cups – knocked out cups + 1 are removed, balls are returned for re-throw.
3.7 – Bounce/One Cup Downtime – Knocked out cup is removed + 3, balls are returned for re-throw.
3.8 – Bounce/Bounce into different cups – knocked out cups + 2 are removed, balls are returned for re-throw.
3.9 – Bounce/Bounce to one cup – Knocked out cups are removed + 4, balls are returned for re-throw.
3.10 – “Warming up” – a series of successful throws of the same player is summed up, after the third successful throw, if there were no misses between them, the player “on fire” continues to throw balls until the first miss.
4. NON-STANDARD SITUATIONS
4.1 – When throwing, you turned the opponent’s cup with a ball – the throw is considered a miss.
The overturned cup is restored and the game continues;
4.2 – When throwing, the participant turned his cup over in any way – the cup is considered knocked out and it is removed.
4.3 – When throwing, the participant drops the ball into his cup, the throw is counted and the cup is removed.
4.4 – When throwing, the ball gets stuck between the cups – the throw is considered a miss.
4.5 – In a direct throw, members of the opposing team are prohibited from hitting / touching the ball if it has not yet flown off the table and has not rebounded from it. Such a touch is equivalent to hitting the cup with a simple throw. The cup to be removed is chosen by the thrower.
4.6 – If during a throw the ball hits the stand (the inner area of the stand) and bounces into the cup, then this throw is not considered a rebound and one cup is removed (this rule applies when playing using the stand under the cups).
5. REPLACEMENT OF cups
5.1 – As the game progresses, the cups are rebuilt into pyramids of 6 and 3 cups. If there are 5 cups left on the table, the pyramid is not formed and the cups remain in their places. The 4 remaining cups are rearranged into a diamond and the 2 cups are lined up.
5.2 – It is forbidden to throw the ball until the cups are completely rearranged in the corresponding pyramid by the opponent’s team. Such a throw, even if it hits, counts as a miss.
6. LAST THROW RULE / OVERTIME
6.1 – When knocking out all the cups, the opposing team has the right to the last throw. Throws are made alternately until the first miss (throws in case of hits are performed in pairs, i.e. at any stage of finishing it is possible to knock out 3-6 cups). If the opposing team knocks out all the remaining cups in this way, the game goes into overtime.
6.2 – If the competitor(s) knock out the last cup on the first throw, then the opponent(s) have one attempt to bring the game into overtime. If the contestant(s) knock out the last cup on the second throw, then the opponent(s) have two attempts to put the game into overtime.
7. OVERTIME
When teams go into overtime, three cups are placed on the table for each team. The team that finished the game first takes the throw.
8. TRICKS
8.1 – When playing, it is allowed to distract the opponent in various ways.
8.2 – A ball spinning inside a cup and not
touched beer can be retrieved with the index and middle fingers of the male player. Girls, in turn, can blow a spinning ball out of a cup.
8.3 – A ball bouncing off the opponent’s cups, after hitting the half of the table of the throwing team, can be caught by the throwing player and re-thrown from behind.
9. INSTANT DEFEAT
If the opponents fall into a previously unfinished cup of beer, an instant defeat is counted with the corresponding score.
*The rule applies only when playing with beer poured into the game cups.
WARNINGS:
- To reduce the risk of contracting bacteria or other diseases from dirty beer, fill cups with water, and if you lose your cups, drink clean beer that stands by itself.
- Always drink responsibly.
- Do not drink alcohol if you are going to drive.
